Duties and Responsibilities
Would you like to have a rewarding job as a volunteer firefighter in your community? To join you must be at least 18 years of age, reside within the Howard Lake Fire District, and become EMT and Firefighter I certified within three years. Members of the Department must respond to at least 15 ambulance calls in a year and attend training and other meetings on the second and last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the fire hall.
Pay and Benefits
Members are paid per ambulance call and members are eligible to receive a pension of $2,300 (as of 2023) per year of service after they become fully vested at 20 years of service and are 50 years of age (As of January 1, 2019).
